Best skin care at home with simple ingredients
Caring for skin is a huge industry now. It is estimated that by 2025 the global skin care market will produce 189.3 billion US dollars. There are so many products that you can't even get to know all at one time. It is like for every tissue there is separate skin care product. Many of them are so promising that we feel like just it is all to look beautiful. Then those classy commercials by our favourite celebs just makes those products from heavens.
A dull and tanned skin does not look attractive and beautiful. But a smooth and even tone skin is always trendy and the most essential matter of time.
8 billion people around the world makes the 42% of the whole cosmetic market of the world before COVID-19 but still the stats are high.
So now the question is whether it is essential to have only chemically oriented products or there are some easy and cheaper ways to take care of our skin.
There are many natural ingredients that can easily be used and are available in our home. Many people think that home made products are useless and does not have lasting effect. But the reality is that these natural products- first of all - don't harm your skin, then they have lasting effect and it is for sure, and last they are in budget. We don't have to spend so many of our riches only to look beautiful.
How many times we have read that skin care products had side effects to the severity of skin cancer, and many times burning the skin leaving scars for ever. Still excessive usage of these products have effects on our kidneys
So why don't we just try less harmful products. I will have to say that these have long effect but for results you have to wait with regular use.
First and most important thing is to know what are essential elements that make up our skin . Well there are seven layers with all complete details but we will stick only to the ones which are important for skin care routine. So according to that we have three layers of skin
- Epidermis - the outer layer
- Dermis - the middle layer and
- Hypodermis - the bottom layer.
Epidermis is the layer where we apply all the products and keep it safe, clean and even toned. This layer consists of 2 most important things
- Keratinocytes: it is 90% of total epidermis and it takes care of skin structure.
- Melanocytes: it is the base of epidermis and takes care of our skin color.
Next comes the Dermis layer. It is held together by protein called College that gives our skin flexibility and strength. It consist of
- Blood vessels
- Lymph vessels
- Hair follicle
- Sweat glands
- College bundles
- Fibroblast
- Nerves , and
- Sebaceous glands.
And the last layer is hypodermis. It is made up of subcutaneous fats, connective tissues, blood vessels larger than dermis layer and nerve cells.
So now when you have a very brief but important knowledge you will be better able to take care of your skin. As we see that the most important think to take care of is the flexibility of our skin . That is what keeps our young, the flexibility if our skin, also it keep wrinkles and dryness away. So that means we have to use things that can keep up the collagen in our dermis layer.
Now in the market today there are artificially produced collagen sources but natural is natural and more effect with long term effect and comparatively cheaper.
There are four main things that reduces collagen production in our skin.
- Time
- Excessive UV radiation
- Smoking, and
- Excessive Sugar.
These are the biggest reason of old and dull and uneven tone skin. Two of the above mentioned things must be quitted smoking and excessive sugars. These two things not only damage your skin but also give bad effects on your whole body.
Next two things is time and UV radiation. We cannot stop time but we can make sure that time have least effect on our skin and good looks. The biggest source of uv radiation is sunlight. So having sun bath us good but to have too much of sun radiation will eventually damage your skin.
As the saying goes " excess of everything is bad".
So now let's see what things we require to keep up our skin for our whole life. And I am talking about the natural means not the chemically combined products.
I don't have any offence to them they are also a result of lots and lots of research and efforts. But I feel that natural beauty is the best and everlasting.
Now here I have some masks, pastes and list of food rich in skin care elements.
Let's begin:
1) Gram flour, turmeric and milk
These two ingredients are easily available in almost every home. And still if you purchase it they are cheap. Now how to use it. Mix milk, turmeric and Gram flour in to a soft paste and apply it on your face and gently rub it all over the face and neck for at least two minutes. And then wash it .
This not only brighten the skin but also soften your skin. Retain the color of your skin. That means that it heals any damage to your dermis layer. It is a type of organic scrub. Turmeric is well known for its skin friendly nature. Turmeric is a natural anti septic ingredient, it have many essential nutrients that our skin requires, it has herbal importance and is used as a medicine in herbal treatment.
Milk is , as we all know, a product for skin clearance and immunity strength. The better you are inside the good you are outside. But what if it is directly applied to skin, all the nutrients of milk will be directly provided to our skin and hence it will make it more neat and even tone.
2) orange peels
I am sure many of you have heard about it. Take some oranges and off there skin , dry them in sun and then crush them. Then when ever you use it add rose water to make paste, and scrub all over your face and neck gently for couple of minutes and then rinse with simple fresh water not too cold nor warm water.
3) Fruits
Yes fruits. You can eat fruits and you can apply some amount of it on your face too. What I do that when I have fruits that start to ripen in my home and I feel like they will be wasted I apply them on my face. Not when they have fungus grown or completely changed color, taste or smell. But just before that. Like when apricots get tanned or slimy but doesn't rot I apply it. You can apply
- Apricots
- Strawberry
- Banana
- Cucumber
4) Mint and yogurt
It is an instant tonner. All you have to do it mix crushed mint with yogurt and apply all over your face and generally scrub it then without washing let it on your face for sometime as a face pack. Then wash your face with normal water and apply rose water.
This is an instant source of skin cleansing. If you forgot to have facial before an important get together or outing you can make this mixture, apply it and enjoy the results.
